Our Story

What do you do when your loved ones need new walker glides? If you're Rob Epp, you don't just sit there, you start a new company named Top Glides! Slowly but surely, over the past 13 years, Top Glides has grown and developed to address some of the most important questions out there. Do mobility devices and their accessories have to be dull and purely functional? Can they be more colorful, spark a conversation and give that extra boost of joy to someone who needs it? How can we help make people's lives easier and more independent?

Glides are the tips that are installed at the end of walker legs that allow them to glide seamlessly over different surfaces like floors or carpets. Depending on where they're used, walker legs may also require different wheels. Mobility over different surfaces is essential for a person's quality of life and independence, so quick turnaround time is crucial when shipping these essential devices. Customer education is also of utmost importance to ensure confidence in mobility products and to ensure that caregivers can provide safe solutions.

From his humble kitchen table, Rob grew the business to include walkers and their accessories, cushions, grips, baskets, pouches, crutch accessories, and, most recently, rollators. Each time he thought he found the perfect spot, Rob quickly outgrew the storage capacity. Then he found an open-air cow barn! Though it wasn't Rob's first choice, it had the size, location, and potential he needed. After being gutted and repaired, it became a 2700 square foot warehouse with an additional 4000 square foot barn providing extra warehouse space.

The pandemic of 2020 hit hard, bringing with it supply chain issues that affected all of us. But, thanks to Rob's overseas connections, Top Glides kept products moving to customers. Rob's next step is to ponder a retail location to add to Top Glide's dynamic mode. One thing is for sure, Rob will always focus on what makes Top Glides such an important business, the small things that make someone's life just a little more colorful and perhaps just a little easier.
